Proposed Changes to the GCC By-Laws

As a result of the new Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) coming into force, we have had to revise the Club’s By-laws to conform to the Act.

Below is a link to download the new proposed By-laws-4 Draft. 

These By-laws will be on the AGM Agenda for membership approval.

We ask our Members to please review and submit any questions or comments to the By-law Committee (This email address is being protected from spambots. Background:

The following Members form the GCC By-law Committee:  Bruce Hemphill, Randy Jorgensen, George and Susan Lindsay

As of October 19, 2021, Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) is in force.  Not-for-profit corporations have a three-year transition period to make any necessary changes to their governing documents.
With guidance from Matt Allen, Executive Director, CurlON, we used the Ontario Curling Assoc. Club By-law template prepared by Sport Law & Strategy Group in accordance with ONCA.  To the extent possible, we attempted to make minimal changes to this template.
To assist in understanding the changes from current By-laws-3 to By-laws-4 draft, we have included a chart outlining differences.  All documents are available here.
